Members of the Compassion in Action (CIA) Committee are working on a unique opportunity to connect with neighbors. We are working with Neumann Family Services, who run a CILA in our community, which stands for Community Integrated Living Arrangement and is a home for people with mental illness.

We are hoping to set up a visit/activity every other month at the CILA with a group of interested NNA members.  You don't have to commit to every activity, but would be part of a pool of people who could potentially attend these visits and activities.  Some of the ideas the residents had were: having a barbecue, going to listen to free live music in the neighborhood, going to a movie, and others.

This will be a fun program and a chance to meet some of your neighbors who are eager to get out more and have some fun.  If you are interested in joining us in this, there is a required training that Neumann Family Services is running on how to work with people with mental illness in this capacity.

The training will be held on Saturday, May 9 from 9:00am-12:00pm. It will be held at Neumann's office at 5547 N. Ravenswood.

Going to the training is not a commitment to volunteer for every event, but it will enable you to participate when you can.
