Once the holidays are over, what should you do with your Christmas tree?

You should RECYCLE it!

Trees do not belong in landfills so they don’t belong in the alley. Trees left in alleys are a fire hazard! Recycled trees get a second life; they are turned into mulch for residents to use in their gardens. So how do you recycle your tree?

Take your tree to a City drop-off point.
This is the best option! Remove your ornaments, lights, and garland and bring your tree to any of the City of Chicago drop-off spots. The location closest to Northcenter is Clark Park at 3400 N. Rockwell.

The City will accept your tree from January 3rd through the 17th.

Take your tree to a NNA drop-off point.
If you don’t have a car or cannot take your tree to Clark Park, bring it to a NNA location and we’ll haul it to Clark Park for you!
You still need to remove your ornaments, lights, and garland.

NNA’s drop off locations are:

  • Montrose Green at 1819 W. Montrose - trees can be dropped off during the day from December 31 - January 10.

  • Northcenter Town Square - 4100 N Damen.  Trees can be left from December 31 - January 10 in designated area only.

Thanks to Northcenter Chamber of Commerce, David Brown and Zippy Shell for providing support and assistance.  Please be considerate when dropping your trees off and do not leave your tree after NNA’s final pick-up.

NNA will accept trees from now through the 10th.

We are looking for volunteers to help haul trees to Clark Park on Sunday, January 11th.  You don’t need to be strong, just willing to give a couple hours to help save hundreds of trees from the landfills.

Please visit our volunteer spot page to sign up for a slot.
