NNA Holiday Service Project: Collecting Bedding and Blankets for Refugee Families
Refugee One (formerly IRIM) is a non profit organization located in Uptown, that helps families escaping persecution from around the world to settle in Chicago's neighborhoods.
This year NNA will be collecting new blankets, sheets and bedding for newly arriving refugee families. While you are out shopping for your gifts this year, why not pick up a blanket, set of sheets or pillow that can help comfort a weary traveler? Twin or double size please.
Drop off your unwrapped gift at the doorway of Karen Lynch 3909 N. Claremont by Dec. 22 and we will make sure it is delivered.
Happy Holidays...together we can make someone's welcome to Chicago A LITTLE MORE comforting...
View a video about Refugee One produced by NNA Board Member, Karen Carter Lynch. This is what she had to say:
"Last year after getting to know the teachers, social workers and families, I volunteered to help. One day I was called upon to help move a family to a new apartment because their baby had gotten bitten up by bedbugs. That gave me the idea to start a bedding drive to ensure that each family could have a fresh start."
Please pass this info along to friends, school groups, or organizations that would like to help this season.
